Exterior cleaning
in
Chepstow and Monmouthshire

Patios, driveways, roofs, render and gutters — cleaned properly by someone local who turns up when they say they will.

Who does exterior cleaning in Chepstow?

JPM Exterior Cleaning is based in Tutshill, on the Chepstow side of the Wye, and covers the whole of Chepstow including Bulwark, Thornwell, Tutshill, Sedbury, Pwllmeyric and Mathern. We clean patios, driveways, block paving, render, gutters and roofs for homes and local businesses.

We are Checkatrade approved, AEM CPD certified and fully insured. Chepstow quotes are free, fixed, and usually given the same day from photographs. Call 07947587517.

Local conditions

Why Chepstow properties green up faster

This is not sales talk. Chepstow sits where the Wye meets the Severn, in a steep-sided valley, at the point where the river is still tidal. That combination produces damp air, long shade and very little drying wind in the low-lying parts of the town.

A tidal river in a steep valley

Moisture sits in the valley bottom. Properties down towards the river and the old town rarely dry out fully between October and March, which is exactly what algae and moss need to establish.

Shade from the valley sides

The steepness that makes the town handsome also means whole streets lose direct sun for months. A north-facing patio here behaves quite differently from the same slabs twenty miles east in the open.

Tree cover on the edges

Gardens backing onto the woodland along the Wye and out towards the Forest fill gutters faster and keep paving damp. It is the commonest reason for a repeat visit.

Practically, it means most Chepstow patios need annual attention rather than the two or three years a drier, sunnier location might manage. It is also why so much of our repeat work is in the same handful of streets.

Around the town

What we see, area by area

Chepstow is not one kind of housing. The job changes noticeably depending on which part of town you are in, and we can usually guess the surface before we arrive.

Bulwark & Thornwell

Post-war and later estate housing

The largest residential area in Chepstow, and the one we work in most. Pebbledash and painted render on the older stock, which is soft washing work rather than anything under pressure, and block paving driveways on the later builds.

Driveways here sit close together. If a neighbour wants theirs done at the same time, mention it — two on one visit is cheaper for both of you.

Tutshill & Sedbury

Across the Wye, Gloucestershire side

Technically in England rather than Wales, and Chepstow in every practical sense. This is where we are based, so it is the fastest response on the whole patch.

A lot of these gardens back onto tree cover, which means gutters and north-facing roof pitches need looking at more often than people expect. Autumn clearance is worth booking rather than waiting for the first heavy rain.

The old town & castle end

Older stone and rendered property

Lime-bedded stone, painted render and narrow access. This is the gentlest work we do: pressure opens up old mortar joints and lets water into a wall that has managed perfectly well for two hundred years without it.

Access is often the deciding factor on price here rather than area — some of these properties have no vehicle access to the rear at all.

Newer estates

Roughly 2005 onwards

Indian sandstone patios and modern silicone render, almost without exception. Sandstone is the single most common patio material we clean in Chepstow, and the one most often permanently damaged by someone attacking it with a hired pressure washer. How we clean Indian sandstone →

Pwllmeyric, Mathern & Beachley

Village and peninsula properties

More exposed, more varied, and often older. Beachley in particular catches weather off the Severn from two directions, which is hard on render and on anything north-facing.

Being local

Based here, not visiting

Most of the exterior cleaning companies that appear when you search for Chepstow are based somewhere else — Abergavenny, Newport, or a franchise running the same page for forty towns with the name swapped over. We are ten minutes from the town centre.

Small jobs are worth doing

One set of steps, a small courtyard, a single elevation. Viable at ten minutes; not viable for someone driving an hour, which is why they will not quote for it.

Usually within the week

Rather than the month. And if we need to see the job before pricing it, that is a short drive rather than a scheduled trip.

Coming back is easy

If something is not right, or the patio needs a look again in the autumn, it costs us twenty minutes rather than a lost day.

Common questions

Chepstow questions we get asked

Do you cover the whole of Chepstow?

Yes, including Bulwark, Thornwell, Tutshill, Sedbury, Pwllmeyric, Mathern and Beachley.

We are based in Tutshill, so most of the town is within ten minutes and nowhere in it is a long drive.

Quotes are usually same day from photographs, and if we need to see the job it is a ten-minute drive rather than a scheduled visit.

Booking depends on the season: spring and early summer are busiest, and autumn gutter slots go early. CONFIRM-33 — typical lead times

f it was laid from roughly 2005 onwards and it is not concrete or porcelain, it is very likely Indian sandstone. That is by far the most common patio material we clean in Chepstow.

It is also the one most often permanently damaged by a hired pressure washer. How we clean Indian sandstone

No. They are across the Wye and technically in Gloucestershire, but they are Chepstow in every practical sense — and they are where we are based, so they get the fastest response on the whole patch.

There is no border premium. The bridge is free.

Yes. A single set of steps, one small courtyard or one elevation is worth doing when you are ten minutes away.

It is one of the practical differences between a local business and a franchise driving out from an hour away, who will not find that job worth the trip.
